My key takeaways:

• It’s humbling to go to an event where others are doing much bigger deals. but also, learning that it is more about private investing vs institutional investing. It’s 2 different strategies and 2 different worlds.

• There is a lot of institutional investors that know nothing about what the private investors are doing and vice-versa. Both strategies are ignorant to one another and the possible opportunities that exist.

• who not how is so incredibly powerful in real estate. many of the developers have large in-house staff, which they can afford because the developments are 10x more expensive than what we can do as private investors.

• finding partners that have the same goals and visions for the future is really the best way to propel your success forward.

• some of the younger men that attended (most were employees of a firm) had zero chivalry and lots of ego. Not a good look on those firms. So as we grow, it is important to be careful of who we hire and how they act.

• lastly; when in doubt…network! I always learn so much and meet so many amazing people. However, I really need to be more diligent about follow ups!
